 SUM-1001: What Is Summation and How is it Useful?

An overview of Summation's core functionality. This class is designed for those who manage people who work with Summation and need to know how Summation fits into the daily practice of law. Also good for persons who work with other software and want to raise their awareness of other solutions in the legal marketplace.

·        No prerequisites

SUM-1101: Moving around in Summation

Allows the student to gain awareness of how Summation's interface operates to best utilize all its functions. This class is foundational and required for all other classes.

No prerequisites, but is required for all other classes.

SUM-1201: Deposition Transcript Organization

Learn how to load and manage deposition transcripts

Prerequisite (Pre): 1101

SUM-1202: Deposition Transcript Searching

Learn how to effectively find relevant testimony

Pre: 1101

SUM-1203: Work Product Derived from Testimony

As you search and find testimony important to the case, learn how to effectively capture and save that testimony

Pre: 1101, 1202

SUM-1204: Deposition Transcripts: Fast Track

A condensed session that focuses on the most important elements of 1201, 1202 and 1203. Good for review or for those that anticipate taking individual classes in the future but can't right now.

Pre: 1101

SUM-1301: Discovery and Summation

An overview session that allows the student who has not worked with a discovery management software to become familiar with core concepts related to digitized discovery and the techniques used in relation to Summation. This class is foundational, thus this knowledge is necessary to move on to all other Summation database classes. You may be able to test out of it.

Pre: 1101

SUM-1302: Preparing for Document Review: Layouts and Images

Learn the components of a basic review screen and how to work with them to prepare for document review

Pre: 1101, 1301 (or test out)

SUM-1303: Data Entry and Tagging Documents

Learn how to enter information related to documents into Summation's database, and/or how to tag documents with relevance as they're reviewed

Pre: 1302

SUM-1304: Searching the Document Index and OCR Text

Learn how to effectively search information related to documents to find that smoking gun

Pre: 1303

SUM-1305: Document Review in Summation: Fast Track

A condensed session that focuses on the most important elements of 1302, 1303 and 1304. Good for review or for those that anticipate taking individual classes in the future but can't right now.

Pre: 1101
